Self-Regulated Learning
The process of self-regulated learning (SRL) focuses on the realities of students' academic development. Research conducted by Barry Zimmerman, a pioneer of SRL, has shown that students’ greatest success occurs when students plan, use strategies, evaluate, and adjust their approach throughout their learning.
By employing this model of instruction, I activate students’ motivation, encourage their acquisition of skills and strategies, and foster a passion for learning and performing independently. My individualized, proactive work with students fuses both short- and long-term goals driven by the students’ strengths and weaknesses, their coursework, and their academic aspirations.
Additionally, I implement this model of support with students applying to college preparatory schools and to colleges and universities.
